About Project
3-year volunteering project in eco and urban communities (Volunteering Team)
Modern Odyssey focuses on the journey of volunteer teams over the course of 3 years, as they work to promote solidarity among individual and communities of vulnerable and disadvantaged groups. We aim to do this by visiting a different organisation each
week of the programme and support the organisations in developing their initiatives through hands-on work, green practices and other community development tools.
Year 1 Goal
In the first year, the project participants will focus on the theme of understanding and supporting migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers.
Year 3 Goal
In the final year, the volunteers will support individuals with mental and physical disabilities in their efforts to achieve greater health and wellness.
Year 2 Goal
In the second year, the focus will shift to addiction recovery and the volunteering team will work with individuals seeking to overcome substance abuse.
Deliverables
* Online Diary
* Community Output
* Testimonial Booklet
* Community Development Card
The goal of the project is not only to foster unity within the communities but also to provide a sense of belonging through the idea of "coming home", in a world where isolation and feeling lost is a prominent challenge. The Volunteering Teams will offer young people the opportunity to develop confidence, critical thinking, and become active citizens in society. As well as, learning to be part of a close-knit team, and taking care of oneself mentally and physically.
